On Sunday mornings across our nation, thousands gather in buildings that people call "churches". A variety of experiences and traditions occur in those buildings. Our nation is peppered with different denominations and different expressions of what the "church" is supposed to be and do. Some even claim that their church tradition is the first and only truely authentic church. But, what really is the church? How did the church begin and what makes a church a church? What are the core unchangeable God-given values of a church and what are the man-made traditions that too often define a "church"?
